rugged peaks rising 800 feet above the surrounding countryside and watch raptors
soar in the wind currents. Rocky ledges and outcrops are the perfect seats from
which to view the panorama below. The park itself is 5,096 acres. Travel park
trails for a closer look at the highland environment.

Directions:
From I-85 take Exit 13 (Edgewood Road) about six miles west of Gastonia. Cross
over I-85 and turn right onto Highway 29/74. Go two miles and turn left on
Sparrows Spring Road and follow the road 2.7 miles into the park.
Park
Hours: Nov.-Feb. 8a.m.-6p.m.; Mar.
& Oct. 8a.m.-7p.m.; Apr., May, Sept. 8a.m.-8p.m.;
Jun.-Aug. 8a.m.-9p.m. Gates will remain locked,
except in emergency situations, when the park is not in operation. Please
plan accordingly. The park is closed Christmas Day.
Accessible
Facilities: Parking, pathways, restrooms, and the two covered
shelters in the picnic area are all accessible by wheelchair. There is
also a recently constructed accessible fishing pier on the lake and the
park's visitor center is barrier-free.
Special
Interest Areas: Experienced rock climbers will enjoy the challenges
of Crowders Mountain. Climbing is permitted in designated areas only and
all climbers must register according to park regulations. Basic rock climbing
safety equipment and techniques must be used at all times.
