Trails
Hiking
Trails--Eight trails at Crowders Mountain State Park provide access to
12 miles of hiking and nature trails. These following four trails offer
views of and from Crowders Mountain:
- Backside
Trail (0.9 mi) is moderate to strenuous
- Crowders
Trail (2.5 mi) is moderate to strenuous
- Tower Trail
(2.0 mi) is moderate to strenuous
- Rocktop Trail
(1.5 mi) is moderate to strenuous.
The remaining four
trails offer views of and from Kings Pinnacle:
- Fern Trail
(1.0 mi) is easy
- Lake Trail
(1.0 mi) is easy
- Pinnacle
Trail (1.7 mi) is strenuous
- Turnback
Trail (0.9 mi) is moderate to strenuous.

Picnicking
Picnic Areas--The
picnic area contains 10 tables with grills scattered under large trees which
provide a cool spot for outdoor dining. Drinking water and restrooms are located
nearby.
Picnicking Shelters--Two
large shelters are available for group picnics. Shelters offer tables and
grills with a seating capacity of 80 each. Reservations are suggested. A small
fee is charged if reservations are necessary; otherwise use is free.
Camping
Six group backpack
camping sites are found in the group camping area. Reservations are taken
for group backpack camping only. Camping available year-round, except Christmas
Day.

Camping--none
- Primitive
Camping--From the park visitor center, there is a pleasant one-mile walk
over a well marked trail to reach the primitive camping areas, with ten
sites. No vehicles are allowed and no drive-up sites are available. Campers
must register at the park office before camping. Camping is on a first come/first
served basis. Camping available year-round, except Christmas Day.

Water
Activities - THE LAKE IS CLOSED AT THIS TIME.
IT WILL RE-OPEN IN JANUARY 2009.

- Fishing--Fish
from choice spots on the banks or try your luck from the seat of a canoe.
The big catches around here are bass and bream. All regulations of the NC
Wildlife Resources Commission must be obeyed.
- Canoeing--Crowders
Mountain State Park has a beautiful wooded lake. Canoes can be rented
at the park office year round from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Paddles and personal
flotation devices are provided at the time of rental.

Programs
- Natural History
Programs--Join a ranger for a regularly scheduled hike or educational program.
Contact the park office for details.
- Environmental
Educational Learning Experience (EELE)Twin Peaks Monadnock. Grades:
5, 6, & 7. Introduces students to basic geologic concepts and processes
using the Kings Mountain range. Major concepts covered include rock cycle,
rock and mineral identification, weathering and erosion, resource use, and
stewardship.

Shops--A few
items such as hats, T shirts, patches and books are for sale in the Visitor
Center.
